SecureAsi@: Asi@Connect Security Training Workshop

When: 23-25 October, 2017 Where: Cyberjaya, Malaysia Organizer: Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Malaysian Research and Education Network (MYREN)   The workshop aims to bring Asi@Connect partners’ network engineers and security administrators to the level qualified for the operation & management of network for their NRENs and therefore promote international collaborations as well as Asi@Connect applications. As more and more security breaches being reported throughout the globe, it is such necessary that NRENs are more equipped to proactively identify potential security issues in their network BEFORE they are being exploited by hackers and malware. For that reason, this workshop will provide a combination of theoretical and practical knowledge/experience to 25 participants from 16 Asi@Connect partners in terms of a more secure NREN.

Information and Network Security (and Monitoring) Workshop

When: 9-13 October, 2017 Where: Thimphu, Bhutan Organizer: Ministry of Information and Communication, Bhutan         Information security has become very important with proliferation of ICT services. However, Information security has not been able to gain much attention in Bhutan partly because most of the efforts were focused on development of the infrastructure itself.               To counter these ever increasing threats, Bhutan has taken modest efforts through implementation of numerous measures such as deployment of virtual private network and other good encryption measures in sensitive networks. However, there still remains a gap in the competency of system administrators vis-a-vis the security requirements of systems and networks.     50 local participants will join this workshop envisaged to fill the identified gap. Through the workshop, they are expected to have some skills and knowledge for conducting regular security audits, real-time network monitoring and interpreting the data thus far gathered into important security alerts and messages.
