The Asi@Connect partners gathered togather in Auckland, New Zealand, for the 4th Asi@Connect meeting during 5-8 August 2018.
The first meeting started with the 39th Steering Committee (SC) Meeting on 5 August and SC members discussed key issues about partner’s cost sharing models and Asi@Connect Call for Proposals.
The 4th Asi@Connect Governor’s Meeting opened with welcome and greeting message from Douglas Harre, the vice-chair of Steering Committee and representative of REANNZ, on 6 August. In the Governors’ Meeting, the project partners reviewed Asi@Connect project’s achievements, and discussed future activity and budget plans.
“Asi@Connect project has been through lots of tasks dealing with 100G network upgrade, sub-project and applications ” said Mr. R.S.Mani, the Chair of the Asi@Connect Governors.
“Asi@Connect entered important project phase and we should have in-depth discussion for the sustainability for this community” said Ms. Hye Joo Yoon, the president of TEIN*CC.
“The relationship between Asi@Connect and APAN community is important for Asia-Pacific R&E development” said Mr. Gerrit Bahlman, the Vice Chair of Asi@Connect Governors and the Chairman of Board of Directors of APAN.
At the 4th project meeting the Asi@Connect project progress report and NOC operation report were shared to the participants. Also, this project meeting had a special session for ‘Sustainable Future R&E Networks, Applications and Cooperation with Neighbors in Asia-Pacific and Beyond’. This session featured with R&E network experts’ presentations and panel discussion that cover issues of R&E network connection and applications.
