This year's program is packed to the brim with interesting speakers and topics. Kick start the conference by attending Sunday's BoF sessions starting from 3.30pm, then meet friends and colleagues at the Welcome Reception from 6.00-7.30pm. The Official Opening of the Program is at 8.30am on Monday 29 October.

 


Featured speakers include:


Dr Cliff Jacobs - Senior Advisor Geoscience from the National Science Foundation (NSF), USA
NSF encourages the community to envision and create an environment where low adoption thresholds and new capabilities act together to greatly increase the productivity and capability of researchers and educators working at the frontiers of Earth system science. This initiative is EarthCube.

 


Prof Jeffrey Shaw - Dean, Creative Media from the City University of Hong Kong, China
In a prolific oeuvre of widely exhibited and critically acclaimed works (
www.jeffrey-shaw.net). Professor Shaw has pioneered and set benchmarks for the creative use of digital media technologies in the fields of virtual and augmented reality, immersive visualization environments, navigable cinematic systems and interactive narrative.



Mr Rudolf Simper - Director, European Synchrotron Radiation Facility, France
Rudolf will present the principles of synchrotron radiation research, and then show some key examples of research on societal challenges of advanced materials, life sciences, and energy.


 


Prof Anne Trefethen - Chief Information Officer and a Professor of Scientific Computing at the University of Oxford
Professor Trefethen has worked for almost 20 years in industry and academia with a focus on numerical algorithms and software, computational science and high-performance computing.




Don't miss out on the Australian eResearch Forum which will be held on Tuesday 30 October where leading eResearch practitioners and researchers will meet to share ideas on how to help researchers collect, manage, share, process, analyse, store, find and re-use information.
