Asi@Connect lighted up in Sri Lanka(20 June 2017)
 

People came to the oil lamp and started turning on the light one by one. Everyone in the hall sincerely wished to the success and prosperity of the Asi@Connect. 
 

 

  




The Asi@Connect partner LEARN invited the representatives from the European Union Delegation, Sri Lankan Government officials, TEIN*CC and all LEARN members, and inaugurated the Asi@Connect project in Sri Lanka to seamlessly extend and further build on the successful Trans-Eurasia Information Network (TEIN) initiative. The participants of this event welcomed the national kick-off of the Asi@Connect project in Sri Lanka and encouraged the R&E network community to build on achievements to date and further strengthen cooperation between Asia and Europe.

The launch event was attended by H.E. Mr. Tung-Lai Margue, Ambassador of the European Union to Sri Lanka, Prof. P.S.M Gunaratne, Vice Chairman of UGC, Dr. Byung-Kyu Kim, the executive officer of TEIN*CC, and Dr. Roshan Ragel, CEO of LEARN. They delivered messages the significance of this new project and the meaning for the research and education community in Sri Lanka. The speakers also emphasized that Asi@Connect will dedicate for Asia R&E community’s co-prosperity and regional development.


  

  



 


After the official ceremony, the invited guests, LEARN members and users had discussion sessions for developing the application activities, and seeking the possibilities of the capacity building development via training programs under Asi@Connect project. In the discussion session, Byung-Kyu KIM presented case studies of Asi@Connect project, and Prof. Shuji Shimizu remotely attended and introduced Tele-medicine activities using TEIN. Dr. Roshan Ragel, CEO of LEARN, opened the discussion session for sharing idea about training programmes via Asi@Connect.
