Trans-Eurasia Information Network Cooperation Center (TEIN*CC, President Taehee Lee) which manages the Asia-Europe research & education network and Korea National Information Agency (NIA, President Sungtae Kim) which operates the research & educational future network signed a Memorandum of Understanding for mutual cooperation and collaboration between two institutions on 24th December 2012.

The Korea Research and Education network (KOREN), managed by NIA, operates a 10~60G backbone in Korea, as well as international network connecting to Asia. Recently, it has participated in the TEIN project with an upgrade of the Korea-Hong Kong-Singapore circuit to 10G. NIA also especially starts the eTEIN-KOREN project that promotes mutual cooperate researches in the Future-Internet technology, IPTV, and Tele-Medicine in Asian countries.

TEIN, which  started in December 2001, is a high-capacity international research network  that connect between 19 Asian countries and 34 European countries. It promotes Internet-based researches through the TEIN network, and supports the establishment of research & education network in developing countries. TEIN project is in the 4th phase and TEIN*Cooperation Center takes charged of its network management and operation. Its main roles are providing stable international network, establishing and managing network, promoting international joint international research and supporting Asian developing countries.

This MoU includes close cooperation and collaboration between the two institutions, with international projects such as the TEIN4 network establishment (Korea-Hong Kong-Singapore 10G international circuit) as well as the eTEIN-KOREN project, which is based on the future network related technology.
