eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. eduroam allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions by simply opening their laptop. TEIN takes part in the eduroam project and seeks to extend this roaming service into countries where there is limited or no existing eduroam deployment.
TEIN focuses on further development in the e-learning area by identifying, assessing (including feasibility studies), and scaling-up collaborations in developing countries across Asia. Activities include, among others, capacity building programmes for e-learning service providers and open discussion on issues such as credit exchange, management system for e-learning courses, and quality assurance.
